Sensory visit. The Euganean Hills in 4D

(3 euros per person, free for chaperones) – 40 minutes

It provides a unique tour of the Hills by exploring them through the senses while walking through the museum rooms with the education officer. During the tour, it is possible to learn more about the daily life in the villages of the Euganean Hills through a story about two of them, Galzignano and Valsanzibio. The story is supported by multisensory experiences, which will allow you to listen to the sounds of nature, smell its fragrant essences, touch the landscape first-hand, understand its changes over time and think about its preservation for future generations.

From Painting to Life. Story of an artist and Nature

(6 euros per person, free for chaperones) – 1h 30 minutes

The itinerary consists of a visit and a workshop. Thanks to a guided tour you may learn about the life of Mario Bocchini, an artist from Cesena who chose the Euganean Hills as his residence for the last part of his life. He described the surrounding world using various tools, from art to poetry. His paintings have strong colors, like the emotions he felt observing the landscape. The workshop allows the children to observe, build and take apart an object as he did with the boats on the canvases exhibited in the museum, experiment with colors and use cut-out paper to represent the object according to their emotions. The stories and the workshop have been adapted to the age of the participants.

Who are the Italians?

What are Italians like? Would you be able to describe them? Bodies, faces, families, residences and aesthetic choices have changed a lot over the course of the 20th century, so much so that today we barely resemble our ancestors from the beginning of the century. Through multimedia installations and an art laboratory, this itinerary encourages children to seek the answers to those questions, working on their grandparents’ history and exploring the concept of self-portrait as an introspective means, an opportunity to get to know themselves and others.

At school in the village

On the centenary of the birth of Dino Durante, teacher, writer, journalist and poet of the Euganean Hills, we will discover how they went to school in his time right in the building that is now the Euganean Hills Museum, was the school where he taught and where you will learn and practice "Calligraphy" by writing with a nib and ink just like in the past.

How to defeat hunger?

(6 euros per person, free for chaperones) – 1h 30 minutes

During the twentieth century in western countries it was possible to defeat hunger for millions of people. How can we do the same for the entire planet? Let’s begin with a museum installation, this laboratory looks at the machinery that once created food and the dishes of Italians from the beginning of the century onwards, comparing the nutritional conditions of our ancestors to those of many countries in the world today. The workshop ends with the tasting of some historical Galzignano’s flavors and with the creation of a little project about them.

The Naturalist's journal: Plants and Animals of the Euganean Hills

(6 euros per child, free for chaperones) – 1h 30 minutes

Cooperating with local associations and institutions allows us to rediscover the history of the hills and the plants and animals that have lived here for millennia in balance with man. There are two laboratories to choose from: - Plants: Build your herbarium. In this activity, a herbarium will be created with the group, observing the plants in the garden next to the museum and creating cards to describe them. - Animals: Play with the sounds of Nature. The activity involves learning animal sounds, shadows and footprints, making them heard and seen through play.

Art, crafts and ancient knowledge from the Euganean Hills ...

The Euganean Hills are a unique place, where the artisanal knowledge of the past has been preserved for a long time. Galzignano Terme has always been known for processing wood and plant fibres found in the nearby woods of Venda and the surrounding hills. Through the rediscovery of nature it is possible to create unique hand-crafted objects, used for daily life in the past, which have almost disappeared today. The workshop talks about the artisans of the Hills and allows you to create your own small artisan product.

The Valley of the Lords. History of luxury in the Galzignano Terme and Valsanzibio area

(6 euros per child, free for chaperones) – 1h 30 minutes

The area of Galzignano and Valsanzibio is rich in luxury residences and enchanting places, such as the Gardens of Valsanzibio. Next to the museum there is Val Pianzio, known as the Valley of the Lords, which is where some of the museum's precious and ancient materials come from. The itinerary plays with history by reconstructing the stories of noblewomen and lords of these lands with the participants. The workshop focuses on the creation of puppets using fashion from the Middle Ages and the Renaissance in the Euganean Hills. It is a representation of a true story taken from the archived documents of Galzignano and Valsanzibio. It encourages reflections on how stories about ladies and gentlemen used to be told and how they were represented.

SPECIAL PROJECTS

The special projects are itineraries created by the museum every year with the help of local associations and institutions. They take place over several meetings on a yearly theme . The cost changes based on the meetings chosen by the groups, as it involves the participation of multiple officers from the area and established directly with the museum's education office. This year the MUCE is working on OLIVE OIL, strong point of the Euganean Hills territory. It received international awards and the Italian Pomea d'Oro Award; many towns in the Euganean Hills take part in these awards.

Price to be agreed on the workshops based on choices, entry to the museum is 1.50 euros per person For the Galzignano Terme schools, the laboratory is offered by the municipality of Galzignano Terme, while entry to the museum is 1.50 euros per person

Traditions and legends of the Euganean Hills

A journey through olive oil producing towns (città dell’Olio)

Visit to olive oil territory (with a qualified guide)

Building a herbarium:

The path will lead to rediscovering the plant world of the Euganean Hills with an expert botanist from the national GIROS association. A herbarium will then be created, describing the properties and peculiarities of the plants picked.

Rediscovering animals in an olive grove:

With the aid of the Veterinary Museum of the University of Padua, this itinerary will help you to learn about the animals of the hills and compare them to those living in other environments. It is divided in classes.

Carpenter and wood:

With the support of a restorer, you will be taught to recognise the different types of wood and how to use them to build small objects.

Corbe!(wicker baskets):

With the support of one of the last craftsmen able to teach an ancient weaving technique using wood to build the famous corbe of Galzignano you will make your own corba.

Small natural lanterns:

With the help of an artist and an education officer, lanterns will be created with herbs and leaves inside papier-mâché. The itinerary is curated by arteuganea.net.

Choir School (only for middle school):

Five traditional folk tales narrated with voices and songs, in collaboration with the Monte Venda Choir of Galzignano Terme. The activity consists of 6 encounters and a final concert/show. The itinerary is curated by arteuganea.net.

Far filò (Story Telling).

Stories and tales of the Euganean Hills (final event for all participants of the itenerary) In the past people, used to gather in the courtyard in the evening and tell the stories and tales of the hills. This tradition will be rediscovered within the rooms of the museum
